Follow The Leader

HIGHLIGHTS

Following the leader is definitely something preschoolers love and understand. What they need to learn is that throughout life there will be countless choices of leaders they can follow. We want them to know that Jesus is the best leader they can follow!

By the end of this month, when we ask preschoolers who can you follow, our prayer is that they will answer, “I can follow Jesus”. Why? Because Jesus loves us, and He will always lead us in the best way.

Our Bible stories this month come from the Gospels. John the Baptist and the Disciples show us how to follow Jesus.

Teaching Truth:
Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Say This:
I can follow Jesus.

Do This:
Add two dolls or action figures to bath time. Tell your child to wash their figure’s hair as you wash theirs, following your directions. Talk about how God sent Jesus to show us how to love people just like I’m showing you how to care for your doll. Remind your child that when we follow Jesus, He always leads us the best way.

Memory Verse:
“‘Come and follow Me,’ Jesus said.” Matthew 4:19, NIrV

DIY: Forgiveness Is Up To You

HIGHLIGHTS

This month is all about forgiveness—deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay. Forgiveness doesn’t come naturally. When someone does something that hurts us, we want to hurt them back. But forgiveness calls for us to do just the opposite. When you refuse to forgive, when you choose to stay angry, you miss out. God wants us to forgive because He forgives us. God chooses to forgive us because He loves us!

Our Bible stories this month come from the Parables of Jesus. Through the stories of the Prodigal Son and Zacchaeus, we learn how God wants us to forgive.

Teaching Truth:
Forgiveness: Deciding that someone who has wronged you, doesn’t have to pay.

Say This:
Everyone needs to be forgiven. When you forgive others, it can change them.

Do This:
Is there someone in your life who doesn’t know about God’s love and forgiveness? Today, pray that God would help you talk to that friend. Maybe you could invite them to church or show them kindness in some cool way this week so they see a difference in you.

Memory Verse:
“Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13, NIV
